The native from Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in performing arts as she grew up. She performed at high school theatre and in community theater. She moved into Los Angeles in order to pursue a degree in the University of Southern California and later played Belle as the Princess for a period of one and a half years at Disneyland. She left college in order to find an agent. Then she began auditioning and working on television and film. Butler guest starred in The TV show CSI: Miami. That year she played a character in Don Stark's web series Luke 11-17. She also had a recurring role on the web series I Love Vampires.Butler got the role of lead in the rape and the revenge film I Spit on Your Grave a remake of the 1978 cult film of the same name.
